Thunder in Nebraska

I love thunderstorms. I love to watch them and hear the thunder rumble and even sometimes go out in the rain. Well, thunderstorms in Chicago vs. ones here in Nebraska are two totally different things!

Last night, we just got back from the Sand Hills trip and I heard about the tornadoes that struck Colorado. Well, those storms were heading right for us! I went to sleep around 1 in the morning, only to be awoken at 3 to some of the deepest rumblings of thunder I ever heard/felt. The wind was blowing like crazy out, the rain slamming against the house and lightning was flashing everywhere. I do have to admit that for a brief moment, there was some fear of maybe a tornado striking but I was so amazed by the lightning that I quickly forgot about it. I was like a little kid again and after about thirty minutes of watching the storm, I went to sleep and had some of the best sleep I've had in a long time.

I'm watching the weather channel and see that we're supposed to get some good storms again. We just had a brief storm blow by with some hail. It looks like the big storms should hit around 3 again. I hear thunder off to the distance and the wind chimes outside will make it hard to go to sleep. Hopefully, I get a repeat of last night. It'll be a long time before I see another storm like this again!
